Can I ride in this race?
Sure, but you would have to enter your own team. Here is something we encourage you to do, join us in our local Ride4Melanoma. The ride is scheduled for Sunday, April 20th 2008. We will be raising money for the Children's Melanoma Foundation, raising money for Team Ride4Melanoma, providing educational materials, getting out on our bikes, and having fun! You can ride with team members, ask questions, learn about being safe in the sun, eat some good food, and maybe come away with a team jersey.
While we may not race across America each year, we hope that our Ride4Melanoma can become an ongoing community project and fund raiser.
Can I help in other ways beside contributing money ?
Absolutely! Can you take 9 days off in June 2008? Can you drive or read a map? The Team has 2 unfilled crew member positions available. Become a volunteer at one of our events or ride in our spring Ride4Melanoma fund raiser. To find out more, contact us at info@Ride4Melanoma.com
You can contribute frequent flyer miles to help get the team to California, donate a hotel stay for the crew, prepaid gas cards will help or put us in contact with family and friends along the race route who can bring the crew a warm meal.
Why are you doing this race?
For some it is the prestige of winning a category of the world's toughest ultra-endurance bicycle race, while for others it is the achievement of simply finishing. Our team sees it as an opportunity to prove their commitment to the cause of skin cancer prevention. Charity fund-raising has become a significant part of the Race Across America in recent years and we feel an exciting platform to work from. We feel the results of this race will last long after we cross the finish line.
